The Invitation for The Estate Concert

The Governor's Mansion, a handsome Georgian colonial mansion is the offical home of the Governor of Arkansas.

I performed a private concert here in 1997 for social, business and political leaders and used the evening to draw attention to children and educational issues.

Completed in 1950 during Governor Sidney McMath's term, the mansion reflects Arkansas state history. It incorporated brick from the old Arkansas School for the Blind.

The Governor's Mansion is elegantly decorated with antiques, paintings, glassware, silver and many other items from around the world. Over two centuries old, the chandelier that is atop the walnut staircase was brought from France in sections, then rechained in a process that required three months for completion.

The Living Room in The Governor's Mansion, the site of a 1997
private concert with Christian Thomas Lee. This historic home
proved to be a lovely setting on a cool September evening
in 1997 for a program of Bach, Sor and Carulli.

In the living room is a portrait of Arkansas' first Governor, James Miller. The painting was done by Samuel F.B. Morse, who invented the morse code. It was under this painting that I performed. The oldest item in the mansion is a grandfather clock, made in 1770 by William Maddock of Waterford, Ireland. Moreover, above the formal dining table hangs a Louis XV1 chandelier from France featuring a hand-blown bell. A sixty-two piece silver service is among the mansion's proudest possessions.

An Investment in Children ...

In today's world of conflicting messages of values and morals, our children find themselves facing many forks in the road before them. Central to raising up a generation of leaders who are servant-minded, is the quality of education we afford our children. One of my philanthropic passions is children and their education, for when I invest in a child, I am really investing in a generation.

Pulaski Academy, in Little Rock, Arkansas, is one of my favorite private schools in the United States. Pulaski Academy is a non-sectarian school dedicated to educating the minds and hearts of children. For over twenty-five years the product of their educational philosophy is represented in the outstanding graduates that they produce.

I have considered it to be nothing short of a priviledge to partner with, and give to, Pulaski Academy. Perhaps you have a desire to partner with children? Email me and I will be glad to send you more information regarding this fine and exceptional institution. Afterall, 100 years from now it won't really matter what our bank accounts were or where we lived ... but the world will be a better place because you and I made a difference in the life of a child.
